Disappointing Show At Junior Warrior Classic

The Junior Longhorns had a disappointing outing at the Junior Warrior Classic on Saturday. The girls went 1-3 on the day, falling to Kennesaw Mountain, Walker A and Marietta but defeating Pace in two sets. Amalie Alvarez was out of town so Kelsey Lowman had to set the entire day and she did great! Unfortunately, Gina Hogan had to leave after the first match because she was very sick. We hope she feels better soon! Here are some stats on the day:

The girls travel to Lassiter today to take on Lassiter and Pope tonight.

We will have practice on Wednesday and Thursday night from 6-8 pm at Kell HS. I know that practice was not originally scheduled for Wednesday, so if you can not make it I understand.

Longhorns 2-1 After Marietta Tri-Match

Kell Juniors had an AWESOME showing in their debut, going 2-1 at the Marietta Tri-Match on Monday night. After getting their nerves out of the way in the first match, the Longhorns defeated Lovett 7th grade and Marietta to end 2-1 on the day.

Statistics from the day:

-Brittany Stocus had 15 kills and 8 blocks

-Ashley Jones had 18 kills, 5 blocks and 13 aces

-Eliana Tiller had 15 digs and 15 aces

-Amalie Alvarez had 7 aces, 2 kills and had the most set attempts

-Laura Kirby had 8 aces, 7 digs and 2 kills

-Kelsey Lowman had 3 aces, 5 digs and had the second most set attempts

-Savannah Corr had 5 digs and 2 kills

-Julie Edwards had 7 digs and 1 kill

-Alexis Vasquez had 3 digs and 1 ace

-Gina Hogan had 3 digs and 1 kill

Practice is canceled on Tuesday and Thursday but will resume on Wednesday night at 6 pm at Kell HS

It's Almost Game Time!!

Today is the last day of practice before the girls play three matches on Monday at Marietta Middle School. First game is set for 5:00 p.m. against Lovett 8th, 6:00 p.m. against Lovett 7th and 7:00 p.m. against Marietta.

The girls have been working really hard at practice all week, especially since they have learned a new offense called the 6-2. They have also been working a lot on controlled passing, attacking and blocking.

Practice will begin on Monday, Aug. 17th through Thursday, Aug. 20th from 6-8 pm at Kell HS. PLEASE GET YOUR PHYSICAL IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN ONE YET!!

There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19th at 7:30 pm in the gym. I will hand out schedules and other information regarding the team!
